Dear Professor Mietelski,
Thank you for your kind email correcting my Cargo
Transport identification error. Your English is much better than my Polish. I
was unable to find a website for translating Polish to English and back again
free of charge. So I hope you are able to understand this.
I agree with your comments. I should have noticed the
horizontal position of the undercarriage which would indicate a tricycle
configuration of the landing gear. This C-54 has "Air Transport Command"
painted on it. It's my guess that my father was on his way home from China in
September, 1945. Where does your interest in WWII, C.B.I., Cargo
Transports, and such come from? With your educational background, I
can understand your knowledge of the Mannhatten Project and it's legacy (DU).
But you must have an aviation background, too. I find your research very
interesting. I am a semi-retired pharmacist who has worked with parenteral
chemotherapy.
Twenty-five (25) years ago, I worked in a lab utilizing
32P,
H3O,
and 131I. I performed assays in search of
the "N (or regulatory) component" in rat liver proteins using 32P
labeled adenalate cyclase. I am now semi-retired after working for 22
years at the The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas, 77030, USA. I now study
the history of WWII, China, Burma, India Theater, and collect memorabilia. I
also have an interest in flying fixed-wing, twin-prop aircraft (Beech Baron,
Beech Super KingAir, earlyRockwell Aero Commanders, & the Piper AeroStar).
I also oversee our oil and gas production on my homestead in
Oklahoma.
I found these papers written by you to be most
interesting (it's difficult to find translated
papers):
On problems related to the deployment of depleted
weapons in the Balkans Archive of Oncology
2001;9(4):219-23.
Inhalation dose due to
presence of 131I in air above septic tank system of an endocrinology
hospital Radiation Protection Dosimetry 2005
117(4):395-401.

Things,
